Mrs. Boggs was born Nov 23, 1914, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Jackson and Rosie Hylton Sizemore. She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Janice Faye Boggs and Mildred Boggs Williams; one brother, Harlan Sizemore, 2 sisters, Mabel Johnson and Virgie McGlone. She was a homemaker and a member of the Little Fork United Baptist Church since 1932. Survivors include 4 sons, James Arlie Boggs, Jr., of Willard, and Roger Boggs, Jack Boggs and Randy Boggs, all of Grayson; 2 daughters, Phyllis Steele of Grayson and Brenda Marshall of West Palm Beach, FL; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. David Boggs Sunday, Mar 26, at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home, Sandy Hook. Burial was in Webbville Cemetery. Janice Faye was in the seventh grade at Webbville Grade School and was president of her 4-H Club. Survivors in addition to the parents are two sisters, Phyllis Elaine, and Mildred Louisa, at home, three brothers, James A. Jack Perry. Burial was in Webbville Cemetery. She was born December 28, 1876, a daughter of Hiram and Julia Ann Kitchen Hicks. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nelson Hillman of Webbville route 1, three sisters, Mrs. Charles Cotton of Amanda, OH, Mrs. Earl Perkins of Darbydale, OH and Mrs. Wilson Liff of Mount Sterling, OH; four brothers, Oscar Hicks of Webbville, Arbie Hicks of Hilliards, OH, Sherman Hicks of Derby, OH and George Hicks of Dayton, OH and three grandchildren. Born at Webbville on September 25, 1879, a son of the late Herman and Julia Ann Kitchen Hicks, he was a farmer and a member of the Nondenominational Church of Christ. Ray Arlen Justice
age 86, of North Tolliver Road, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Salt Lick, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. 

Born January 2, 1923, in Carter County, Kentucky, Ray was the son of the late Charles and Minnie Flannery Justice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madge Seidenschmit, and a niece, Mary Jo Wright. 

His wife, Nita Gloria Flannery Justice, preceded him in death on November 9, 2002. 

Ray is survived by three sisters, Ethel Rucker of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Edna Boggs and Hazel Combs, both of Dayton, Ohio, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Ray attended Webbville High School, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a retired employee of Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland, and a Kentucky Colonel. Ray lived as a steward of the land and enjoyed horticulture, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and digging ginseng and yellow root. 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Webbville Cemetery at Webbville, Kentucky, with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. 

Visitation will be Saturday, December 19, 2009, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Webbville—On Sunday, Aug 10th, the death angel visited the home of Mart Kazee, taking away his wife, Martha Jane. A few hours before her death she called the family and bid them good bye. She had been suffering about a year with cancer. At the age of 33? She joined the Baptist Church at Providence and during her short life had been a faithful Christian, helping everyone by a kind deed or one of her smiles and which ??? to be always present. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Johnson and after services she was laid to rest in the Webbville Cemetery. Miss Dorothy Dollie Stafford, 29, one of Lawrence County’s most esteemed ladies, died last Thursday in Washington, D. C. where she held a responsible position in the offices of the Pennsylvania Railway. Her body was returned to Webbville, where funeral services and interment took place Monday. Born in the Cherokee section of this county in 1900, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Stafford, Miss Stafford attended the rural school near her home and later went to Ashland where she took a business course and worked in Faulkners Department Store. Completing her business training, she became a teacher in a business college at Washington, D. C. and later accepted a responsible position with the Pennsylvania Railway. Funeral services were conducted Monday from the home of her sister, Mrs. Hugh Shepherd at Webbville, with Rev. Andrews of Fort Thomas KY officiating. Clyde Stewart, 67, of Webbville, KY, died Monday night at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Free Will Baptist Church, Webbville, by the Rev. W. S. Boggs and the Rev. Gallie Isaac. Burial will be in the Webbville Cemetery. Mr. Stewart, a farmer, was born June 30, 1891, at Webbville, a son of the late George S. and Elizabeth Webb Stewart. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. May Morris Stewart; two daughters, Mrs. J.L. Skaggs and Mrs. Proctor Ramey, of Webbville; a son, Charles H. Stewart at home; two brothers, Homer Stewart of Hilliards, OH, and Fred Stewart of Columbus and 8 grandchildren. Charles Hubert Stewart, 44, of Webbville, died Thursday, October 7 in a Louisa hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from Smith Chapel Church at Webbville with the Rev. Luther Parker and the Rev. James May officiating. Burial was in the Webbville Cemetery. Mrs. Maggie Harmon Stewart, 86, of Louisa, died in a Louisa hospital Friday at 4:15 a.m. following a brief illness. Mrs. Stewart was a former resident of Webbville, KY, and had been living with her son, Clarence Stewart of Louisa, for the past 16 years. She was born March 26, 1870, at Fallsburg, KY, a daughter of the late Daniel and Louisa Elkins Harmon. She was a member of the Louisa Methodist Church. Funeral services were conduced at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Young Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Perry officiating. Burial was made in the Webbville Cemetery. Other survivors include one half brother, Bascom Shortridge of Louisa; and several nieces, among them are Mrs. Fred Duncan and Mrs. V. T. Watson of Circleville, OH and Mrs. Arthur Burchett of Barboursville, WV, Mrs. Stewart's husband, Frederick M. Stewart died in April of 1911. Big Sandy News, January 24, 1957

Dr. D. J. Thompson, 68, prominent Lawrence county physician and medical officer for the local selective service board, died suddenly Thursday morning at 10 at his home at Webbville, The News learned just before press time. Dr. Thompson, who had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past few months, dropped dead in the back yard of his home. No funeral arrangements had been made at the time The News went to press. Dr. Thompson had examined 50 selective service registrants in Louisa Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Walters Thompson, 2 sons, J. Mrs. Lena Walter Thompson, 77, well-known Louisa resident, succumbed Monday in the Louisa General Hospital, following an illness of five months. She was the widow of Dr. D. J. Thompson, of Webbville, KY, who preceded her in death June 25, 1942. Mrs. Thompson was born at Blaine, KY, May 24, 1878. She was a daughter of the late Monroe M. and Anna Patrick Walter, a pioneer family of the Blaine section of Lawrence County. She was a member of the Louisa Methodist Church and the O. E. S. Chapter, Grayson, KY. She has been in residence here for the past three years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Louisa Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Charles Perry, and Rev. J. H. Finch of Jenkins, KY officiating. Burial was made in the Webbville, KY Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W. A. Anglin of Corpus Christi, TX; two sons, Monroe M. Thompson of Cincinnati, OH and J. Walter Thompson of Louisa; two sisters, Mrs. B. H. Vaughan, Port Arthur, TX and Mrs. C. L. Meredith Franklin Waddell, 77, died at his home near Webbville Tuesday following a stroke of apoplexy suffered last Friday. Mr. Waddell was well known throughout eastern Kentucky, especially in Carter County, where he served for 18 years as a member of the fiscal court and always has been active in politics. He also was a member and high officer in the Eagles lodge. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 and burial was made at Webbville. Levi Morton Young, 73 years old of Webbville, KY died Tuesday at his home after a two week illness. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. from the Webbville Community Church by the Rev. Jack Perry. Burial will be in the Webbville Cemetery. Mr. Young was a practicing veterinarian and a graduate of the Terre Haute, IN School of Veterinary Science. A member of the United Baptist Church for 44 years, he was born in Cherokee, KY on March 31, 1888, a son of the late Jesse A. and Hester Fugate Young. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Willa G. Pennington Young; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Parks of Denver and Mrs. Julia Lawrence Thomson of Tustin, CA; four sons, Webb Young of Ashland, KY, Harry and Richard Young of Webbville and Paul Young of Tustin; three brothers, Curt Young of Louisa, KY, Mayo Young of Cherokee and Luther of Wheelersburg, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Osborne of Louisa and Mrs. Noah Sagraves of Tustin and 14 grandchildren.
