Mrs. Bessie Fletcher, 61, of Louisa, KY, Route 1, was found dead in bed Sunday morning, October 15, at the home of a niece, Mrs. Mary Shepherd of Columbus, OH, where she had been visiting for the past week. She apparently suffered a heart attack in her sleep. She had been in poor health for some time. She was born October 23, 1899 on Louisa Route 1, a daughter of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Fletcher Hughes. She was the widow of Samuel Fletcher, who died six years ago. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Marie Bentley of Garrett, KY, and a brother, Harve Fletcher of Louisa, route 1. The body was brought to the Young Funeral Home where services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, from the Cynthia Chapel with the Rev. Gallie Isaac officiating. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Isaac Park Church with the Rev. Gallie Isaac officiating. Burial was in the Isaac Cemetery. Born May 16, 1923, at Starrett, WV, he was a son of Harve Fletcher and the late Cindy Shepard Fletcher. He was formerly a miner. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday from the Isaac Park Church with the Rev. Gallie Isaac officiating. Burial was in the Isaac Cemetery. Surviving in addition to his father, are a daughter, Anita Rose Fletcher, of Columbus, OH, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jone Jobe of Columbus and Mrs. James Robert Henson of Louisa; three step sisters, Mrs. Charles Hazlett of Louisa, Mrs. William Hazlett of route 3, Louisa and Mrs. Thelma Mills of Hemlock, OH; and two stepbrothers, Donald and Hobert Sturgill, Jr. of Columbus. Sam Fletcher, 62, of Louisa, route 1, died at 5 a.m. Monday in a Huntington hospital following an illness of one year. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Cynthia Chapel on Louisa route 1, by the Rev. Grant Raines. Burial was made in the Isaac Cemetery. Graveside rites were conducted by W. O. Johnson Post 89, American Legion. Mr. Fletcher, a farmer, was born May 14, 1893, on Louisa, route 1. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Legion Post 89. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Bessie Hughes Fletcher; a son, Tom Fletcher, Memphis, TN; the mother, Mrs. Edna Isaac of Louisa, route 1, a sister, Mrs. Marie Harris of Woodland, CA; a brother, Lindsey Fletcher of Woodland; and a half brother, Rufus Isaac of Fairmont, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday (today) from the Cynthia Chapel Route 1, Louisa, with the Rev. Gallie Isaac officiating. Burial will be in the Isaac Cemetery. Born May 12, 1922, in Vanceburg, KY, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Mary McCleece Duff. Her husband of eight months, Alfred Gartin, survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Randolph Henson of Louisa; one son, Lindsey Ray David of Louisa; one sister, Miss Bessie Duff of Dayton, OH and two brothers, Adrian Duff and Ted Crawford, both of Vanceburg. Glenna Mae Hughes, 94, of Louisa, went to be with her Lord on Friday morning, October 7, 2011.
Mrs. Hughes was born November 21, 1916, in Boyd County, the daughter of the late Carlos and Bertha Ann Barber Sparks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Hughes, who died in 1956, and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker and member of the Louisa Church of God.
Survivors include four daughters, Opal Muncy of Louisa, Audrey (Elmer) Frazier of Ashland, Peggy (Pete) Wears of Columbus, Ohio, and Alberta Hughes of Louisa; five sons, Arnold "Buddy" (Gerldine) Hughes of Loraine, Ohio, Bobby (Carol) Hughes of Greenup, Thomas (Carla) Hughes of Columbus, Estill (Brenda) Hughes of Southport, N.C., and Donald (Chris) Hughes of Orient, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robertson Jackson of Toledo, Ohio.

Mrs. Isaac was the widow of William Henry Isaac, who died in 1948. She was born in Wayne County, WV, on June 16, 1873, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Nancy Jane Isaac Fletcher. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marle Johns of Woodland, CA and two sons, Lindsey Fletcher of Woodland, and Rufus Isaac of Cowen, WV, a brother, James Fletcher of Mary Ann, WV and two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Burial was made in the Isaac Cemetery. The body was removed from the Young Funeral Home to the residence of a son, Rev. Gallie Isaac where it remained until funeral time. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Nancy Jane Compton Isaac; one daughter, Mrs. Ollie Roberts of Louisa; four sons, Elmer, Mart, Jr., Rev. Gallie Isaac and Thomas, all of route 1, two sisters, Mrs. Jim Pinson of Williamson, WV, and Mrs. Harlan Chapman, Portsmouth, OH; 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
